Revenue Analysis
This was a project that was intended to make decision making much easier and support other projects that were part of this internship. Having this information was very important for Rian and I because we were used to having this type of data at our finger tips, and the previous owner did not use Excel to track his sales for each day. This meant that there was a lot of data entry that needed to be completed in order for us to continue. I began by entering a full year of sales into a spreadsheet that Rian had already completed two years in. Once this data was entered, we wanted to smooth it out to get rid of days like Pride and Halloween, that weren’t interesting to use for trendlines. I then began analyzing this data with Excel to help with decision making. We then compiled the door count data and cover charges to determine a policy on cover charges moving forward. Then finally, analyze the effect that opening a third cash register open would have on total sales.

Project Outcomes
This project overall demonstrated to me the amount of information that one can glean from a database of numbers. It felt edifying to simply input all of the data throughout the course of this section of my internship. Much of this had to do with looking (at least subconsciously) at all of the pieces of information as I was going along and allowed me to make new and interesting observations about what was happening with the numbers and how that translated into the bottom line. This project was also something that my project supervisor was extremely interested in gaining additional data about. This project produced the most amount of data for making different long term strategic decisions for the organization.
