Purchasing

This project amounted to simply reviewing what could change about purchasing habits. We knew that we would be able to save money if we changed the size of the bottles that we were purchasing for the bar and determine the correct beers and non-alcoholic beverages to purchase, but we did not know that it would be as much as it was. I began with a review of the current purchasing habits from the Inventory Analysis section to see if there was room to improve. It was difficult to get accurate data about the prices for the different liquors and orders, so we requested pricing for everything that we already had in our inventory from each of the suppliers, I combined each of these sheets, and compared the prices to determine the percentage saved. After this analysis, I determined we would be able to save close to 20% on all our purchase if we changed our purchasing to the new method.

Project Outcomes

This project produced the most impact over the bottom line. It was important to do for both Rian and I because of the implication that we may be able to save quite a bit of money with very little effort on our part. After doing some research with our current suppliers, this was the case and we took immediate action. This changed much of the data that I was working with for the Inventory section, and the Revenue section, and responding to this change by making it easy to integrate the new bottle size was difficult work, but invaluable in its impact.
